Lavishness is not enough. Brides today wish to look not just their best but also unique on their big day. The same old red lehenga and golden jewellery do not please them anymore. Even as celebrities are distancing themselves from a typical Indian bridal look by opting for designer outfits that are borrowed from different cultures, new-age women too have taken a shine to the idea. Just recently we got to see Anushka Sharma dressed up in a light pink lehenga with floral motifs on it on her wedding day. Sagarika Ghatge too walked the aisle in her elaborate pastel attire. Even comedienne Bharti Singh had her ‘I-do’ moment in the combination of blue and pink.

Brides today are well travelled, they are aware of global trends and on top of that, are open to experimenting with fashion. Using this newfound outlook of marriageable women of today to their advantage, bridal stylists have gone about exploring exotic cultures and creating fusion designs to please our brides of today. The passion with which the stylists are rolling out such never-seen-before creations, with the same enthusiasm the brides are lapping up the stunning designs and thus, the trend has caught on.

But it is the Toilet – Ek Prem Katha famed actress Bhumi Pednekar’s recent photoshoot for a magazine cover that will further fuel this trend. Her outfits are a global take on bridal attires that are nothing like our Indian bridal wears yet make for a magnificent ensemble.

Take a look at some of the gorgeous attires donned by the diva in the making.

This gorgeous Indo-western bridal wear has all the trappings to become the flavour of this wedding season. It’s extravagant, it’s stylist and it’s elegant too. Full marks!

This elegant ensemble, replete with sparkle and shine, is sure to sell like a hot pan cake this season. While it exudes the richness of a bridal wear, there is deserved drama in its pattern. The brocades, the floral motifs and the gloss, together it's a classy design for a new-age bride.

For any girl who grew up to meet her prince charming some day, this Cinderella dress is a dream come true. But unlike the fairy-tale, this one comes with a colourful set of trendy jewellery.

A sequined cami top teamed up with a lavishly-designed floral lehenga and a chunky jewellery set to go with it, is a bohemian style bridal ensemble. But did it work for us? Yes and no. Yes, because it is in sync with the idea of looking unique and no, because the lavishness of a fairy-tale wedding is totally missing. To each, her own.
