Their favourite onscreen bahu Akshara of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai showed up in an altogether different avatar. Although they got a glimpse of her gutsy side in Khatron Ke Khiladi 8, her cribbing nature with loads of shrewdness was something hard for them to digest. Yes, we are talking about our very own Hina Khan. Bowled over by her designer sarees and dresses, her fans were always gaga about her soft-spoken demeanour onscreen. While she gave fashion goals to young girls, every mother aspired for a daughter-in-law like her screen character Akshara. But her stint in the controversial house, has changed the whole perception. Apart from picking fights with her co-contestants at the drop of a hat, her girl-next-door dressing sense has been a big downer in the Salman Khan show. For this drastic contrast between her Yeh Rishta…character and the reality show image, she has also been trolled brutally on twitter.

But for some of her loyal fans, Hina Khan will continue to be that dutiful bahu in their memories and they’ll always cherish her most talked-about bridal getup in Yeh Rishta…season after season. It’s been nine years since she donned that beautiful bridal dress and jewellery but even today, there is a take-away for brides-to-be. With the wedding season round the corner and Hina Khan going great guns in the show, let’s take a stroll down memory lane.

The whole ensemble was exuding lavishness. To go with Akshara’s wealthy family status, the outfit and jewellery were opulently picked. Who can forget Akshara’s goddess-like avatar in that embroidered lehenga for the wedding episode of Yeh Rishta...! She looked like a million bucks in it. The highlight were the bells that lined her chunari. It added an extra zing to her look while covering her head.

Now, the jewellery part. Big on style, sophistication and extravagance, each piece was coordinated with the red colour of the lehenga. Despite the golden finish, they had some or the other red element in it. The colour was added either through enamelling or beads.

Her necklace was a royal pick straight from Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai-starrer Jodha Akbar. But Akshara gave a tough competition to Mrs. Bachchan in her bridal look. The neckline was further embellished by a stunning ranihaar that rounded up her look for the mega episode.

Taking the lavishness several notches up were the 3-layered matha patti and 2-medallion haathphool. Intricately designed, exaggeratedly created, these stunning pieces of jewellery garnered oohs and aahs from all quarters.

How can we miss the lovely jhumka pair? It’s evergreen, it’s breath-taking and it's so bridal too! But when Hina donned it for the daily soap, it became immortal. Immortal in the memories of all those who dream of having a fairy-tale wedding.

But the hero of the whole ensemble was her nath. The 21-year-old then, Hina Khan looked nothing less than a royal princess wearing it. For sure, her contemporaries must have been green with envy. No wonder, she does not have many friends in the TV industry as well as inside the controversial house.
